Alhamdulillah, another joyous chapter has been added to the history of Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom Madania, Jatrabari. Last Friday the Jamia campus hosted the annual dastarbandi ceremony for the students of the Hifz department who completed the memorisation of the entire Holy Quran this year. From dawn onwards, guardians, alumni and well-wishers began arriving from districts across the country, and by mid-morning the grounds were filled to capacity.
## The programme
The gathering opened with a moving recitation by one of the new huffaz. The teachers of the Jamia and invited scholars then spoke on the virtues of memorising the Quran, the honour of the hafiz, and the lifelong duty of protecting this trust through regular recitation and practice. The speakers reminded the students that completing hifz is only the beginning of a long journey with the Book of Allah.
## The turban ceremony
In the central moment of the day, the Muhtamim, the Shaykhul Hadith and senior scholars tied the turban of honour on each graduate with their own hands. Years of perseverance, countless early mornings and the sacrifices of parents were recognised in that single gesture, and many guardians could not hold back tears of joy. Certificates and gifts were presented, followed by special prayers for the graduates' futures.
## Gratitude to the teachers
In his closing address the Muhtamim praised the tireless efforts of the Hifz department teachers, whose daily labour from before dawn until late at night lies behind the department's consistent success, and thanked the parents who dedicated their children to the service of the Quran.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt munajat, asking Allah to accept the new huffaz as true bearers of His Book and to bless their knowledge and deeds. Ameen.
